Indigenous/Traditional knowledge is simple and practical. It links the survival of mankind to the wholeness of nature and its elements that support and sustain life overall.
It provides solid solutions to the community’s challenges relating to the environment, climate, galaxy and stars, art, culture, plants & architecture and provides practical solutions to people's everyday problems.
IKS refers to understanding skills, and philosophies developed by local communities with long historic experience of interacting with their natural surroundings. Other well-known IKS examples are:
üIIndigenous knowledge is passed from generation to generation, usually by word of mouth and cultural rituals, and has been the basis for agriculture, food preparation and conservation, health care, education, and the wide range of other activities that sustain a society and its environment.
