This year I would like to do some mountain hiking and see interesting and rare South African plants. It is the start of summer here in South Africa and it is the best time to explore mountain trails.

Some of my favourite plants are Protea and Cyclopia species. I'm hoping to see some of these plants on my mountain hiking.  The wonderful Honeybush tea is made from the leaves and yellow flowers of the Cyclopia plant.

The Cape Mountains form part of the Cape Floral Kingdom, which is the smallest Floral Kingdom in the world. There are six Floral Kingdoms worldwide. The Cape Floral Kingdom is very rich in special plant species.
