世界上的文字分为两种，即表音文字和表意文字。前者文字由字母构成，后者以汉字作为典型代表。学习汉语的学生多来自表音文字的国家，对于由笔画构成的方块汉字的特点没有太多概念。
通过学习和了解汉字常用字的起源和演变、本义和引申义，可以对中国文化形成一个全面、系统、深入的了解，这样才能从根本上理解中国文化。
There are two kinds of characters in the world, namely phonographic characters and ideographic characters. The former is composed of letters, while the latter is represented by Chinese characters. Most of the students who study Chinese come from countries with phonetic characters, and they don't have much concept about the characteristics of square Chinese characters composed of strokes.
By learning and understanding the origin, evolution, original meaning and extended meaning of commonly used Chinese characters, we can form a comprehensive, systematic and in-depth understanding of Chinese culture, so as to fundamentally understand Chinese culture.
