Ms, Miss or Mrs?

Oct 29, 2013

Hi everyone,

If you are not sure when to use Ms, Mrs or Miss, here is a short post about how to use them!

"Miss" is used when talking to a female who is not married.

"Mrs" (pronounced "missus") is used when talking to a married female.

and "Ms" (pronounced "miz" ) is used for women of any marital status, or when you do not know if the lady you are talking to is married. "Ms" can also be used if the subject likes to be called Ms.

Examples

"Miss Green is attending the meeting with Mrs Hilton. Ms Henessy is not attending the meeting. "

Ms, Miss and Mrs are understood in most English speaking countries as  standard titles.

I hope that helps you next time you need to address someone!

Have a great day,

Zia
