I studied flute in the UK at the Centre for Young Musicians at Pimlico School and Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

I enjoy an international career performing in many different genres of music. 

I am a flute specialist and regularly play in many notable contemporary music ensembles, jazz groups, symphony orchestras, improvised music, non-Western groups, pop bands and as a soloist at some of the leading music venues and festivals, both in the UK and around the world. Many of my solo contemporary flute performances have been broadcast on BBC Radio (UK). 

I also have composed and arranged music for bands, large ensembles and the BBC. 

I have performed at such venues and festivals as the Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Centre, Chatelet Les Halles and Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall. The North Sea Jazz Festival, Brecon Jazz Festival and Berlin Jazz Festival.

I made my BBC Proms debut as a soloist during the 2006 season at the Royal Albert Hall, London.

I have been teaching the flute for over 30 years at music conservatoires, universities, music schools and specialist flute courses, as well as privately.

Lessons are tailored to the personality and requirements of each student, enabling the individual to gain the most from their flute playing and from music in general.

Discover how to play some of the most enjoyable pieces in the classical, jazz, contemporary, world and pop music repertoire.

Learn classical music of the baroque, classical and romantic periods as well as the 20th and 21st century; jazz standards, blues, Latin jazz, Brazilian jazz including bossa nova and jazz fusion.

Music from the movies and shows and classic pop music from bands and artists like The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Madonna and many others.

Learn how to play any music of your choice to the very best of your ability.

I will help you to improve your overall technique, musicality and musicianship.

All the lessons are tailored to the personality and requirements of each student, enabling the individual to gain the most from their flute playing and from music in general.

Lessons are available for 12 year olds and upwards, teenagers and adults, from those who want to play for fun right through to those who want to perform professionally.

Lesson requests for beginners, intermediate and advanced students are welcome.

Absolute beginners will be shown some simple basics and helped to get used to playing the flute and to develop at their own pace.

Re-learners who haven’t played for a while will be gently guided back into feeling more confident with their playing and being able to fully express themselves.

Intermediate students who want to make further progress will be taught how to play slightly more challenging music with more assurance.

Advanced students will be taught to diploma and practical degree standards and beyond. Good for those who simply want to experience playing very challenging pieces right the way through to those who are professional, performing concert recitals. Also good for those who enter competitions, those who are preparing for music conservatoires and other higher education institutes and those who are auditiong for orchestras and ensembles.

Biography:

I have performed and recorded with various new music ensembles and dance companies in Britain. These include: Lontano, Icebreaker, Colin Currie Group, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group and New Music Players ensembles and Phoenix Dance and Rambert Dance companies.

As a freelance musician I am also active in the orchestral field and have played with such orchestras as: Philharmonia, Bournemouth Symphony, BBC National Orchestra Of Wales, London Philharmonic, BBC Concert and the European Community Chamber Orchestra. 

Jazz and World Music artists I have performed with include such international artists as Frank Wess, David Murray, Flora Purim, Henry Threadgil, Carla Bley, Manu Dibango, Airto, Joyce, Evan Parker, Nitin Sawhney, Paulo Fresu, Courtney Pine, Jean Toussaint, Orphy Robinson, Zoe Rahman, King Sunny Ade, Olodum and Rebirth Brass Band.

I have recorded for a diverse range of pop artists such as Incognito, George Benson, Joss Stone, Us3, Omar, William Orbit, Marc Almond and MC Solaar.

I have taught and given workshops, masterclasses and coached at various conservatoires and universities including MIT in the USA. I have been a tutor at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Royal Northern College of Music, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and lectured at Birmingham Conservatoire and the University of Kent.
