Join me on this journey to learn about peace as a practical philosophy. Class 1: Peace as a practice
In this class we explore perspectives of peace from different religions and cultures around the world, and study some of Mohandas Gandhi's philosophy and his idea of 'satyagraha' or peace as a personal practice.
We will also look at the importance of develping personal peace practices as a response to crises, whether these are individual crises or global events such as pandemics.
Class 2: Moral psychology and the art of getting along
In this class, we explore how holistic thinkng can help us to live peaceful lives.
We also look at some different forms of justice and discuss 'restorative justice' and its possible benefits to society
Class 3: Transcending violence through unity
In this class, we explore the idea of violence as a 'cycle' which needs to be transcended in order to find peace.
To do this, we need imagnation. We look at the work of John Paul Lederach and the 'moral imagination'.
Class 4: Imagination as a key to understanding
In this class, we look more at John Paul Lederach's work and some examples of 'the moral imagination' in action.
We will also discuss some ways in which you can apply the moral imagination in your life.
