More Canadians making a point to mark Remembrance Day this year

Hello Cafetalk Community!

I heard you had an unusual heat wave in Japan until a few days ago. What strange weather you're having--it's summertime in November! It's nothing new in Canada, but it started to snow at the end of October. A few days ago, we had a snowstorm or blizzard, and I was without my Internet for several hours.

I read an entire book during the power outage! Being without the Internet makes us realize how much we depend on it to do everything! I couldn't search anything, scroll through YouTube videos, and of course, I couldn't get any work done. It's amazing how much we are dependent on our computers and the Internet.

[Today's topic:]

I wanted to know if you know of "Remembrance Day" in Canada.
[Description:]
In most countries, Remembrance Day is observed on 11 November to recall the end of First World War hostilities. Hostilities ended "at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month" of 1918, in accordance with the armistice signed by representatives of Germany and the Entente between 5:12 and 5:20 that morning.
Please take a look at the video above to discover the history, meaning, and custom of "Remembrance Day" in Canada. I hope you enjoy learning about Canada's national holiday! We have a custom to wear red poppies on this day. This tradition has been observed for over 100 years in Canada!

I hope you have a great day and I hope to see you soon!
