Hello Cafetalk community. My name is Jefferson, a 30 year old American currently living in Brazil for the year as I volunteer as an English Teacher at a University here. I came here without knowing how to speak Portuguese so you can imagine how much of a challenge that is. However, it has helped me grow both as a person and professionally. This would be my 3rd year teaching english and I hope that experience will include interaction with those that are reading this text. I am very expressive in my way of speaking so if conversation is your overall objective when it comes to english, then I think we will be highly compatible. I have taught both conversational and academic english so I believe you can get the best of both worlds if you decide to take some of my lessons. I have taught english to teenagers, young adults, and adults. However, I feel especially connected to working with university students because of my personality type and the fact that I would like to believe I am still young at 30 years of age. My teaching style is usually conversational with some mixed in student activities. In my classes, I usually encourage a high level of participation from the student. Most of these details are determined after the rapport build up between the teacher and the student. I am highly flexible and adaptable to the situation(s). I am from the Northeast of the United States so naturally I prefer the cold weather. I am a big sports fan, especially of the NFL. Maybe we can talk sports if you wish, I hope you can relate with American sports. To add to that, I also enjoy fishing, watching movies, listening to music, and traveling.
