皆さんこんにちは！Hello everyone! My name is Mackenzie and I am from Denver, Colorado in the United States. I love to be outdoors - biking, camping, running and skiing are some of my favorite things to do! I also love to read, bake, cook and travel. I have a bachelor's degree in Public Health and I am very passionate about community and personal health.

I have been married for 4 years and met my husband in Japan who is half Japanese! I lived in Japan for 1.5 years and absolutely loved my experience there. I lived in Okinawa, Nagaski, Hiroshima and Fukuoka. Some of my favorite things in Japan were sakura, okonomiyaki, and all of the fun matsuri's that took place throughout the year. 

Teaching Experience: While living in Japan, I taught a free English class once a week for all ages and all speaking levels. In my classes, we focused on vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation with ample opportunities to speak. I also taught a children's English class where we learned songs, simple vocabulary and played games.

In America, I have been a teaching assistant in college for a year and helped students to review and understand material as well as helped with assignments. I have also been a reading tutor for children who English is their second language.

Teaching Style: I love to have fun while learning! People retain information much better when they enjoy the experience. My hope is for lessons to be focused on what students are interested in and allow time for students to speak and converse together with me rather than just me teaching. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and trying new things. I hope to create an environment that is friendly and supportive that makes learning English both productive and enjoyable.
