Welcome!
Hello, my name is Dannah.
はじめまして！ダナーと申します。
Language learning can be difficult. I want to make it exciting and easy! I hope to not only help you reach your goals, but I also hope to help you set new ones. Furthermore, I hope we can exchange culture and ideas, and help each other grow!
I'm a 27 year old living in Kansas, USA. I love learning. I especially love to learn about language and culture! I spent six years abroad, and many people shared their knowledge of their language and culture with me. I also learned the joy of teaching others about my own language and culture, and now I want to share it with you!

About me:
- English is my native language.
- I have studied Japanese for over 10 years, and I am also currently learning Korean. I understand how difficult it is to learn a new language!
- I have a degree in Eastern Asian Languages and Cultures: Japanese Language and Literature, and I minored in Business at the University of Kansas.
- I studied abroad in Kyoto, Japan at Ritsumeikan University. I studied Japanese, tea ceremony, and shamisen.
- I taught English at a junior high school in Fukui, Japan for 3 years. I also visted elementary schools regularly and tutored adults.
- I have completed TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) training courses and I also have passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N2.
- I worked at a manufacturer in Saitama, Japan for two years. I did translation and product testing.
- I currently work at a library and help people find the information they need every day.
- I love dogs, traveling, and taking photographs.
My teaching style:
- I am open to teaching all ages (children, adults, senior citizens) at any level of English ability (beginner, intermediate, advanced).
- I am happy to tailor my lessons based on your needs and interests.
- I recommend taking my introductory lesson BEFORE taking my other lessons (unless otherwise specified in the lesson description). This is so we can get to know one another, and I can guage your ability level and understand your goals and interests.
- I believe language learning should be fun and engaging. My lessons will involve quizzes, games, and conversation.
- I like using a dynamic array of materials in my lessons: textbooks, newspaper articles, movies, videos, and more!
- I will often communicate with you BEFORE a lesson to help you prepare, and I will often assign homework for you to do AFTER the lesson. The reason for this is so you can make the most of our time and that you can reach your full potential!
