Hello! My name is Mercia Cloete. I am from New Zealand but I am currently living in my van in Japan, travelling the countryside and exploring this beautiful country!


I believe that learning should be fun and energetic. I present well-planned but relaxed lessons where we can practise language skills in a comfortable and engaging format. I am flexible to create lessons around any topic you would like, and we can focus on pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, listening skills and much more.

I welcome students of all ages and skill levels. Request a 'quick chat' lesson with me and we can get to know each other and set out learning objectives!

I have experience tutoring students in a number of different topics, including chemistry, physics and swimming! I am qualified with a Level 3 TEFL Certificate and I also have a Bachelors Degree in Science from Massey University in New Zealand. 

When I'm not teaching you will find me surfing or skiing (depending on the season!), hiking, learning Japanese, doing yoga or cooking yummy food! I have 4 years of experience working in cafes; making coffee and chatting to customers, so you could say that "cafe talk" is something I am very experienced with! Lets have a chat over a cup of coffee!
