Hello! My name is Jonathan, and I'm from England, although I also grew up in Australia and the USA. I'm a Cambridge University (CELTA) certified teacher with over a year's worth of experience in the classroom, and I also have a first class degree in English Literature. I live in Berlin. 

I've taught every level of English, from absolute beginners to advanced, and my students are of all ages and from all over the world. 
 
My lessons are fun and engaging, and as I'm learning German myself (I'm an upper intermediate student) I know exactly what language learners need. I also know how frustrating learning can be!
 
Right from the beginning of our first lesson together we'll talk about your language goals, and start working on exercises and activities to get you where you need to go. Every lesson with me will increase your fluency and confidence in a new language area.
 
Together, we'll work through clear language explanations, realistic dialogues and use of the key grammatical structures of English. I use a lot of repetition, especially with beginner students, to help you start speaking perfect English effortlessly. 
 
I use a wide range of authentic materials (including Youtube videos, TED talks, newspaper articles and cartoons), and the more I learn about you, the more I can tailor our classes to your interests!
 
I specialise in:

- General conversation (how to sound like a native, use of idioms and slang, etc)

- Writing (Academic and Business English)

- Grammar

- Proofreading (Essays and University applications)

- Pronunciation

When I'm not teaching, I enjoy discussing politics, practicing yoga and reading novels.
