About Me
Background
Hi! I'm Dahyun and I live in South Korea. I have a passion for foreign languages. My interests began when I started taking Spanish classes in high school and I have never stopped learning languages ever since. In college I took courses in Latin, French and Italian. After college I started learning Japanese on my own which I continue to do to this day. I want to use these experiences to help people improve their own foreign language skills. I know what language learners go through and I am here to help them, encourage them, give them useful tips and entertain as well!
My Other Interests: 19th century British Literature, Poetry, Writing (I am published on Kindle), Travel, Japan, Decorative Arts, Ethnic Cuisine
Qualifications
I am bilingual and I completed most of my education in the United States (elementary to college). English was not my first language, but I was able to achieve native level at an early age simply through immersions at school. I possess native accents in both English and Korean.
Currently, I do not have any experience doing online teaching but I have done some 1:1 private tutoring here in Korea. I also worked at a start-up company recently where I was primarily involved in the development of educational contents for conversational and Business English online resources. I was able to take this opportunity to soak in ideas on effective learning methods. I am confident that this background will contribute positively to my lessons in many different ways.
About the Lessons
Each lesson will be customized to fit the needs and desires of each student. First I will conduct a short evaluation to determine your level in English (or Korean) and then we will breafly discuss your goals and expectations. After that I will design a curriculum that is achievable and we will embark on this journey together.
My lessons are designed to improve the student's conversational skill so that he can communicate effectively. These lessons are not academically intensive. Emphasis will be placed on listening and speaking abilities (as oppose to reading and writing). As such I will use the following methods:
