Hi! Welcome to my page! :)
My name's IYA. I was born in the Philippines to parents with mixed race (Filipino, Spanish, American). I graduated from a university with a Bachelor in Education degree, received my professional teaching license in 2009 and have been in the academe since then.
While preparing for my teaching licensure exam, I worked as an on-line English teacher for a year. Part of it was spent on writing corrections and voice recording for correct pronunciation. I was also a classroom English school teacher for two years, handled advisory classes and mentored an arts & crafts club.
I have a knack for volunteer charity work and was as a professional fundraiser for WWF and Unicef doing f2f and b2b marketing/advertising.
In 2013, I became an English teacher to Japanese nationals with different backgrounds and goals. I then learned about Japan's culture from them and got really interested. So, I came here in the spring of 2014 and have been enjoying myself. At present, I work in a small school in Tokyo as an English teacher offering classes to kids and adults.
English and Filipino are the languages I speak and write fluently. So, if you're interested in learning any of the two, I'd be very glad to be of help.
I hope to help non-native English speakers enjoy and learn the language in a beneficial way.
See you soon!
