Good day everyone! I am Kristel from the Philippines. I graduated from University of the Philippines Visayas and a degree holder of BA History-Economics. I have been teaching English for over 5 years now to Japanese, Korean and Chinese nationals. I started my career as a part time tutor when I was studying in university. Since then, I have been enthusiastic about teaching the language since I feel satisfaction and happiness whenever somebody learns from me and eventually that learning will change that person’s life. As a tutor of 5 years, I gained a lot of experiences and improved my skills in handling students with different English levels, with different needs, different lesson types, and different lesson materials. I always make sure to give my student a fun-filled lesson which would help develop their interest in learning the language. I am a jolly person who loves to laugh and converse about almost everything; ranging from serious topics like culture, history, politics, social problems, crimes, economy, business, science and so forth to mild topics like sports, hobbies, food, experiences, childhood, school, travelling and the likes. 

       Whenever I am not teaching, I watch Asian dramas, movies and anime, listen to music and read books. I am into Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese dramas since 2005. It is my way to learn foreign language and culture. I am an anime lover since I was a little girl and my all-time favorite is Naruto. Rock music, alternative rock, old songs, pop you name it I love it though I am not gifted with an angelic voice and talent to play musical instruments. I read book before going to sleep, a habit I developed when I was studying Japanese.  I love travelling and have been to different parts of the Philippines. I went to Japan once and would love to go back again.

      My teaching techniques vary from the type, level and needs of students. When improving the speaking ability, I mainly help the student to neutralize the accent and to pronounce words clearly and correctly, help them with sentence construction and syntax. For listening, I prepare a listening exercise which also tackles idioms and vocabulary exercise. For reading comprehension, an article will be given, read and discussed. As for the vocabulary, the words will be discussed thoroughly: from their different forms, usage and application.

     Aside from English, I can teach basic Filipino so you can enjoy and embrace the Filipino culture when visiting our country. You would definitely enjoy the look on our face if foreigners speak Filipino, it is priceless! 

     Sharing my knowledge which would help others in their personal, academic and professional lives is one of the most fulfilling achievements I can attain as an English tutor.
