Hi There! My Name is Adam. I am from Melbourne in Australia, but have lived also in Canberra, Utrecht (The Netherlands) and Kobe, in Hyogo Prefecture in Japan.
I worked as a full time Assistant English Teacher (ALT) in Japan for two years at a Senior High School. I had a lot of fun teaching first year senior high school students, running English club and being a big kid myself around the school!
As an English teacher, I don't like to focus on textbook learning.
Why? Because, I think that students should try to learn language by doing things they enjoy. I want to help you to learn new laguage skills through real communication, reading, watching and listening to real English material.
Most importantly I want you to
have fun with English, because boredom is bad for learning, and you may end up looking like this:
Each of my students will get access to their own GoogleDocs space for notes. This is your own link, which is updated after each lesson. You can find what we spoke about, corrections, new vocabulart and follow up!
I am passionate about plants and animals, and have worked lots in environment jobs, from all different areas. Here is a picture of me and my friend, Eddy the Echidna, who I met one day at my job. I have also met snakes, kangaroos, wombats, wallabys and lots of different birds.
I am really interested the environment, and helping people to learn what they can do around their own home in order to improve the sustainability of their lifestlyes and to reduce the running costs of their house.
In my spare time I really like to do martial arts (Hapkido, Taekwondo, Judo) and snowboard, as well as explore and get into nature. This is me when I took my black belt test :).
I'm looking forward to talk with you about your hobbies and interests too!
