Xander Lozano 講師的自我介紹

Hello! My name is Xander Lozano. I'm an English teacher from Los Angeles, California. I've worked as an English teacher for the past two years. Very recently, I was bitten by the travel bug and have traveled abroad teaching English. Most of my experience with teaching has been on a one on one basis tutor or small groups.
At first, I started volunteering with local organizations to keep myself busy. I had no intention of pursuing it as a possible career. My original educational background was in Psychology and Criminal Justice.
The experiences I gained through teaching changed me when I started working for non-profit organizations around Los Angeles. Most of the children I worked with were labeled as "at youth risk". Which literally means that the child is less likely to transition into adulthood. My responsibilities didn't stop at just being their teacher. At times I was also a person they could trust an talk to. I challenged myself, and the kids I worked with, to rise above their adversity. And to challenge this label that was put unfairly put upon them. I helped show them that they could have a fair chance at a bright future just like everyone else.
To me, strong communication with a child is the biggest key to their future success, whether it be in education or life in general.
In order for this to happen, there needs to be a clear line of communication. To do this I would use my background in Psychology and experiences in teaching to foster a positive environment for my students so they can learn at their best.
All it takes is one person to believe in a young man or woman for them to reach their dream.
