Description
-Warm-up Activity:
- Ask students about their favorite cafés or drinks. Encourage them to describe what they like about them.
- Write down key terms that arise during the discussion (e.g., latte, ambiance, pastries).
2. Vocabulary Presentation (15 minutes)
- Introduce Key Vocabulary:
- Create a list of essential café-related vocabulary. Examples include:
- Drinks: espresso, cappuccino, latte, americano, mocha, tea, smoothie, juice
- Food Items: croissant, muffin, scone, sandwich, salad, pastry, cake
- Café Atmosphere: ambiance, décor, seating, barista, menu, counter, order
- Provide definitions and example sentences for each word.
3. Group Activity: Vocabulary Matching (15 minutes)
- Matching Game:
- Prepare cards with vocabulary words and separate cards with definitions or images.
- Divide students into small groups and give each group a set of cards.
- Students must match the vocabulary words with their correct definitions or images.
4. Role-Playing Exercise (15 minutes)
- Simulated Café Conversations:
- In pairs, students will take turns role-playing as a customer and a barista.
- Provide them with a scenario, such as ordering a drink or asking for recommendations.
- Encourage them to use the vocabulary learned in the lesson.
5.. Wrap-Up and Homework (5 minutes)
- Review:
- Ask students to share one new word they learned and how they might use it in a conversation.
- Homework Assignment:
- Write a short paragraph about a visit to a café, using at least five of the vocabulary words from the lesson.
