Kursinhalt

Learn how to correctly use proper stressing and intonation to make your conversational English more like that of a native speaker.
The teacher will: 1) Provide the student with dialogues from various settings and situations in everyday life. The dialogues are between two individuals, person A and person B. Many dialogues may contain usefeul English idioms
The student will: 1) Develop, with practice, the ability to predict the types or classes of words that native speakers usually stress using natural intonation.
2) Have the choice to make your own dialogues with which to practice.

Example Dialogue 1:
A: Hey, you're supposed to have a really important exam coming up next week. Why are you fooling around and wasting time watching videos?
B: That exam is just too tough for me to pass. I have no chance at all. That's why I'm throwing in the towel.

Words that require stressing:
A: Hey, you're supposed to have a really important exam coming up in just a few days. Why are you fooling around and wasting time watching videos?
B: That exam is just too tough for me to pass. I have no chance at all. That's why I'm throwing in the towel.

Note: "throw in the towel" is an idiom meaning to quit doing something

Example Dialogue 2:
A: Why don't we go to the new Mexican restaurant after we knock off work? I heard their burritos and enchaladas are delicious.
B: Well, I'm not a big fan of spicy food.
A: Don't worry! They will make a milder version if you just request it.
B: In that case, I'm ready to give it a shot. Let's go.
