Holiday in Jamaica
Description
Here's an introduction: The celebration of Christmas in Jamaica dates back to the period of slavery in the 17th century, when the island was a colony of England. The plantations then had all-night dances that included masqueraders and plenty of drumming. It is from these all-night dances that one of Jamaica’s most enduring Christmas traditions emerged.
The seasonal festivities continue all the way into the New Year.
If you are intererested in learning more about a Caribbean Christmas, come join me and together we explore how Jamaica celebrates Christmas. The learning process is new to me as well and we'll learn together :)
