What Scares You, Makes You Stronger

Weekly Topic: Halloween costume ideas. What will you be this year?

Back then, I just remembered sharing ghost stories with close friends in the neighborhood, sometimes while watching reruns of horror films on tv. I think, Halloween costume parties in our country started in the 90’s as influenced by the Western pop culture. I witnessed the creativity of generation X, as there were few to none RTW store-bought costumes then.

Having a generation Z son who took part in all “trick or treat” events possible, got me busy in putting my DIY skills to use in the 2000s. He also wore costumes (cute, not scary) that were gifted though. My son had his share of fun, maybe until it was too obvious that Halloween is being crassly commercialized. I eventually stopped making costumes just when he also thought that he was too old to join any Halloween events.

However, last year, he went to his school in his “Chihiro Kagurabachi” get up for Halloween. I didn’t see any photos. Why? He is now 18 and studying in another city. Meantime, my husband and I joined a “spooktacular fun run” wearing our cardboard Dracula and Frankenstein masks.

I don’t have any Halloween plans for this year.  But if i were to give someone my unsolicited Halloween costume idea, I would suggest they wear....

a DIY credit card statement of account.

I don’t know how they can pull it off. But I am sure, that it would really be scary for some. Don’t you think so?
