彼女は仕事から帰るところだと思ったので、びっくりした!

「えっ! どこに行くの⁉️」

「a train/a bus」と言うと、いつもの電車/バスとは違って、どこか別の場所へ行くように聞こえます。

仕事や学校への電車とかバスはいつものルート、習慣なので「the train/the bus」です。

例文

I have to catch the train to work.

I'm late, I have to run for the bus to school.
