毎週の火曜日と水曜日、京大で英語を教えています。夏はとても蒸し暑いので、地下鉄と京阪線に乗っていましたが、秋からは歩いて通っています。散歩をしていると、たくさんの物は「catches my eye」です。「Catch one's eye」は日本語の「目を引く」という意味です。ネイティブスピーカーはこの表現をよく使います。例えば、

Near my apartment a big American motorcycle caught my eye.

While walking along the river a beautiful heron caught my eye.

Near to Kyoto University an old western style building's beautiful entrance caught my eye.
