Today, June 3rd, is World Bicycle Day.
It is one of the international days designated by the United Nations.
It seems to have started with a grassroots movement by American sociologist Professor Leszek Sibilski.
Bicycles are not only an inexpensive way to get around, but also good for education, health, and the environment. It's a sustainable vehicle suited for modern society.
When I was in high school, I rode my bicycle to school.
Most of the students commuted to school by bicycle, so a lot of bicycles gathered in the morning. It was an interesting sight.
Today, I think I'll go out on a bicycle under a pleasant sky.

国連が定めた国際デーの一つです。
アメリカの社会学者、レシェク・シビルスキー教授の草の根運動から始まったそうです。
自転車は高価でない移動手段であるだけでなく、教育や健康、さらに環境にも良い
「持続可能な乗り物」ですね。
私は高校生の時、自転車で学校に通っていました。
生徒のほとんどが自転車通学だったので、朝はたくさんの自転車が集まってきて
おもしろい風景でした。
今日は気持ちの良い空の下、自転車で出かけてみようかと思います。
