Advice for students studying abroad

Weekly Topic: Any Advice for students who will be Studying Abroad?

Dienstag, 6. Juli 2021, 17:16

I guess this is a quick list of ideas that come to mind.

1. Have an open mind.  Many things will seem different, but that doesn't mean they are bad. Give them some time, and you might like them.

2. Go out and look for people to talk to. Staying at home and reading books or watching youtube may help you a bit, but you can do that in your own country anytime.

3. Break away from your native language circle. Generally, if you live with other people from your country you won't be able to learn the language well.

4. Get a job. Even in a cafe, restaurant or pub you will be forced to learn the language quickly. The pressure will make your mind rise to the challenge.

5. Live with a host family. Like a job, your mind is under pressure to learn language quickly.

6. Study consistently. A little each day or each week goes a long way.

7. Have fun. Not everyone gets to study abroad, and we only have a short period in our lives to do it. Make the most of the opportunity, but enjoy the experience too. It's your life.
