I understand that a lot of people don't drink. That's fine, but many still do!
I've been drinking for the last 20 years, at least. During that time, I've drunk a number of spirits (< alcohol).
So what are my favourites?
Well...Currently (now) I tend to (usually) drink wine. I've liked Merlot (a red wine) in the past, but generally I drink Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, a nice white wine.
Beer. I drink that too, though (=but) generally not a high strength one. Sometimes beer is preferable to wine. It's good for talking in groups, particularly with music.
In Australia, some spirits have become quite expensive if you want to go out (bar, pub, restaurant etc). If you come to Australia, I recommend that you bring your alcohol duty-free, to save you some of the expense of the trip.
I suppose it’s all for the best (a good thing). I tend to do a lot of exercise these days, and feel stronger if I don't drink for a while. However… I still look forward to having Nama beer in an Isagaya next time I'm in Tokyo :)
