Hello,
My name is Marissa. I come from a small town, and I love traveling. I studied abroad in Tokyo, Japan one summer and I taught English in Beijing, China for 3 years after graduating.
Learning is a never-ending process. It is my duty as a teacher to give my students knowledge that they can use to help them become the person they want to be in the future. It is important that students feel confident and safe in the classroom in order to learn at their full potential. Students need a comfortable environment to learn where they can be themselves, not be afraid to ask questions and help their peers out when needed.
Every student is unique. It’s important to be fair with every student but acknowledge that some students may have different needs, interests, and learning approaches. Acknowledging that not every student will have the same interests or learning approaches will benefit the class as a whole and bring the students closer together. If students feel safe and comfortable in the classroom, learning will come naturally without any hesitation.
Keeping a positive environment for my students is always a must. People can pick up on negative vibes and my classroom will always be a positive place where students feel inspired and eager to learn.
Teaching has always been a passion of mine. Whether it’s teaching my younger brother to tie his shoe, teaching a five year old how to read, or teaching my co-worker about a new art project I just made, it’s all fun and rewarding to me. I strive to be the best educator I can be and always look for ways to improve myself as a teacher.
