Hello there! My name is Katrina and I am a native English instructor from the United States.

(Send me a wave, if you are ever in New York City!)

Nice to meet you!
As a seasoned Cafetalk tutor, I have been teaching on Cafetalk since 2015

Due to my experience as an English instructor, I have taught on various English language learning websites and I have numerous experience with students with English as their second language.

If you choose to have lessons with me, I have three rules:
#1. The student must talk more than the teacher!

I believe that if the student participates well, then they are well on their English learning journey.

(Tell me about your experiences! Here is my first time kayaking!)

Rule #2: Be honest with your English learning journey.
Don't be afraid to make mistakes. English takes practice and practice makes perfect.

(I made prothestic arms once for an event. Like making anything in life, you have to start with a few pieces and a plan!)

Rule #3: Develop the right attitude.
Anything is possible with the right mindset!

(Coffee is the best fuel in the world!)

TEACHING STYLE:

For students taking their first lesson with me, I recommend taking a "Free Counselling" lesson with me. We can plan out your lesson and generally get to know each other. (Please send a message if you have any questions or inquiries.)

Here is what a lesson may look like:

WITH LESSON PLAN:

(5 min.) INTRODUCTIONS

(10 min,) GRAMMAR: "Present Perfect Tense"

(5 min.) SPEAKING VIA VIDEO RESPONSE: "How to Organize Your Speech. "

(10 min.) READING COMPREHENSION: "Starbucks"

(10 min.) FREE TALK BREAK

(5 min.) VOCABULARY: "Levels of Certainty"

(10 min.) POWERPOINT: "Writing a Well-formed Essay"

(5 min.) LISTENING EXERCISES: "Business English: Supply and Demand"

WITHOUT LESSON PLAN:

We can have a free talk session where I can correct any grammar or pronunciation mistakes.

FEEDBACK

After a lesson is completed, you can request detailed feedback about the lesson's contents. You can expect vocabulary and explanations as well as additional material. I can also give homework. Feedback and homework will be issued before the next lesson is given.

We can learn on any level you wish!

Finally, as your teacher, I would like you to think about this quote:  "You know you are fluent in a language when you are able to dream and think in that language immediately". Keeping this in mind, let's work hard when achieving your goals!

Keep in mind that you can receive detailed feedback at the end of each lesson! (Written feedback can be given if requested.)

When you leave written feedback, you can receive a 10% discount on your next lesson!
