After losing my job due to the Covid-19 pandemic, I decided to make the biggest change in my life. This change involved moving 4,259 miles (6,854 kilometer) away from my home in New York City to a small village in Poland.
From a young age I had a strong desire to travel the world and to meet the people who live in it. My current position as an ESL teacher has allowed me to do just that. Teaching English as a second language, my students range in age from 5 to 45 years old. My job requires adaptability, reliability, and flexibility.
Everyday, I’m on my toes excitedly waiting for my next lesson. Teaching children as well as adults comes with a variety of methods to educate both age groups.
For children, I take on a creative side to cultivate exploration in my lessons. As a result, children learn English through the enrichment of activities. I promote adult students to utilize productiveness. Which then encourages their advancement in learning English.
Although my job can be challenging, I find satisfaction in resolving the situation presented in front of me. From my perspective, I view challenges as opportunities to change.
At the end of the day, my job involves people. It goes without saying that we're complicated, we're complex, and we're always changing.
A little more about myself, I'm now entering into my third year as an ESL teacher. I've become an avid traveler who loves to explore diverse countries and embrace the beauty of different cultures. Living overseas has allowed me the opportunity to visit 30+ countries. The experience of living abroad and traveling has taught me how to adapt and adjust to change. My travels have provided me with the strength of being open minded when it comes to change.
When I'm not traveling, I'm an outdoors enthusiast, indulging in hiking, mountain biking, and the exhilaration of horseback riding, which truly ignites my passion. My dedication extends to volunteering at stables, nurturing my love for horses and supporting their well-being. Amidst my adventures, I find solace in reading, aiming to finish three new books each month, nurturing my love for knowledge and imagination.
Finally, learning a new language requires patience with yourself and positive reinforcement. Have patience for yourself when forgetting how to ask for directions to the train station or a word off a menu. Mistakes will happen throughout your language learning journey. It's perfectly okay! I believe in positive reinforcemet when it comes to teaching. Expressing positivity greatly reduces mistakes. I wish to celebrate in your language learning journey.
So let's talk!
