Hello! My name is Katie. I’m a fiction editor and an English tutor. I'm also a novelist, a short story writer and a poet.

I live just outside London with my husband. When I’m not reading, teaching or writing, I’m usually conducting vegan experiments in the kitchen or wandering around the woods behind my house with my dog, Lola.

 

I have a first class degree in Creative Writing and a passion for the intricacies of the English language. Over the years, I've worked with students of all ages and abilities, helping them to define and reach their goals. 
 

My teaching style is friendly, flexible and student focused. I believe that learning should be enjoyable and accessible for everyone, so I am always happy to adapt my lessons to accommodate the needs of individual students. 
 

I recommend booking my introductory session, Let's Meet, before choosing a lesson. During this session, we'll get to know each other a little and you can tell me why you are interested in developing your English skills. We'll then be able to discuss your goals and talk about which of my lessons would be most suited to helping you achieve them.
 

I offer four different lesson types. Here is a quick explanation of what to expect from each one:
 

Let's Chat - These are informal sessions, in which we can have a conversation about anything you like. As we talk, I can introduce new vocabulary and explain anything you are struggling with. I'll also help you with your grammar or pronunciation.
 

Let's Learn - These are structured sessions based on my own lesson plans and targeted towards meeting your individual goals.
 

Let's Write - These sessions take place through typed instant messages, enabling you to practice your written English through informal conversations or through structured writing exercises.
 

Let's Read - In these sessions, you will practice reading a passage of English aloud, and I will assist with your pronunciation, comprehension and manner of speech.
 

I also offer the following Creative Writing Lessons:

 

Ideas - In these sessions we will use a writing prompt to help you come up with and begin developing a unique idea.
 

Fiction - These sessions can be tailored to focus on whichever aspect of fiction writing you would like to work on.
 

Poetry - These sessions can be tailored to focus on whichever aspect of poetry writing you would like to work on.
