I am a professional opera singer currently living in Berlin.  I was born in Virginia, but have studied and lived all over the world, including in Perú, France, Italy, the UK and Germany.  In undergraduate, I studied Music and Foreign Affairs, and in the process learned French and Italian.  For my post-graduate degree, I moved to the UK and studied Voice at the Royal Northern College of Music.  Since then, I have moved to Berlin to learn German and pursue a career in opera.

I have taught people of all ages in English as a second language, and in singing.  Last year, I received a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification, and have adjusted my teaching plans to reflect what I learned in my course.

My teaching style for both English and singing depends on each student's needs.  I am always open to any questions a student might have, and firmly believe that the best way to learn anything is to make mistakes and learn from them.  In English lessons, I will always encourage the student to speak English, and to find a way to express themselves without a dictionary as much as possibe.  In singing lessons, I help the student to learn how to sing in a safe way, but allow them to suggest music they would like to sing.

My background in music, politics and languages gives me an insight in how to teach.  I have learned from excellent teachers and from terrible teachers, so I know what works and what doesn't.
