Hi! I am Maria from Argentina. I also have Italian nationality and speak a little bit of Italian. I have a neutral British accent.
I have graduated from the Institute of Higher Education Olga Cossettini in Argentina with a Bachelor’s Degree in English-Spanish Translation and Interpretation. Most recently, I have received my 240-hour TEFL certificate from i-to-i Academy.
I have taught English as a second language both in Argentina and abroad. My first experience was as a substitute teacher in 2013. I have also had some private clients – especially parents that trust me to help their children improve their English skills and prepare for international English exams, such as PET.
I also worked at the “English at Home Institute” in Rosario, Argentina, where I was teaching between 3-4 classes daily to students aged between 5 and 16 years old. I used to have a coursebook, but I also introduced additional teaching resources such as films and audios.
In 2017, I taught a summer course at “Escuela Oficial de Idiomas de Viladecans” in Spain. I was responsible for creating and implementing lesson plans, using provided and supplementary materials.
I have also lived in Australia, where I have worked as a nanny and could develop my comprehension of a child’s cognitive and social development.
When it comes to teaching, I am a very dedicated and responsible professional. I believe the teacher's role is to act as a guide: students should discover the rules by themselves. Besides, fun and hard work must be present in every class.
Most importantly, mistakes! I am also a student (I’m learning German), so I know learning a new language can be a challenge. This is why I like creating an environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes. We learn from them and they are the best way to tackle our weaknesses.
As you can see I love languages, cultures, and teaching, so I think this job combines my three passions.
Whether you need to prepare for international exams, improve your pronunciation and conversational skills, or even learn the four basic English or Spanish skills, I’m here to help. I’ll adapt to your needs since my main objective is to help you achieve your own goals.>
I also love teaching children. Helping them learn a new language from a very early age is what I enjoy the most.
I hope we can share this amazing experience of studying a new language and culture.
Thanks,
Maria.
