Self-introduction:
Nice to meet you! My name is Anthony and I have moved back to the United States about one year ago after living in Japan for 6 years. I have worked in many different schools during my time in Japan teaching students of all ages in both English and science.
Qualifications and Experience:
I am a certified biology and chemistry teacher here in the United States. I have worked in Japan for 3 years teaching English at eikawa schools to students of all ages, ranging from 6 months old to adults, and at an international kindergarten. I have also taught for 3 years science, chemistry and biology at international schools to junior high school and high school leveled students in Japan in both Chiba and Tokyo.
Why teach English?
When I first arrived in Japan I started working as an English conversation teacher. At this time I only knew 3 words in Japanese but studied as I continued teaching English. When I learned more about the Japanese language I could understand more and more what types of difficulties my students were having when learning English which allowed me to become a better teacher. At the same time the idea of studying a foreign language became extremely interesting for me, so while I was enjoying studying Japanese I wanted to show my students that learning a new language is fun and exciting! I really miss my English conversation classes and would like to continue working as an English teacher. Below are some photos of my time in Japan:
More about me
I have a lot of different hobbies and interests that I feel allows me to make great personal relationships with my students. Some of my hobbies include video games, snowboarding, studying Japanese, sports (mainly baseball and American football), fishing, photography, playing the guitar, and travel.
