For most of my life I have been fascinated with the sea of ideas that pervade our human societies. If I were able to, both physically and mentally, I would never stop until I understood every facet of our reality. However, because that is not true for anyone, one must focus on only a few areas, and one of those areas for me has been langauge.
When I was only seven, I began learning karate, wherein I earned my first-degree blackbelt at age 12. Within that martial art, I learned very simple Japanese and certain values of Bushi. From thence, I have travelled to many countries, and have lived within two, Spain and Ecuador. I now speak fluently and academically the Spanish language, which, if it were not due to the age at which I began to learn that language, 16, I would be indistinguishable from a native speaker of Spanish.
In regards to my education, I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Spanish with a Minor in History. I also have a Masters of Arts degree in Spanish and Latin American Literature.
Between January 2008 to December 2009, While completing my Masters, I taught Basic and Intermediate Spanish to undergraduate students at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Very recently, I had been living in Ecuador for five years teaching at a university, Universidad Especialidades Espiritu Santo, where I taught English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for five years. Since returning to the United States, from October 2015 until May 2016, I had taught ESL classees and been the English Languague Learners (ELL) Coordinator at a private K-12 school, Sacred Heart School, in Sedalia, Missouri.
Currently, I continue to teach ESL and Spanish classes on a part-time basis.
