Hello, I'm James. I was born and raised in Canada and educated in Canada, the United States and the UK.

I work as a writer and editor for a global aid organization and have spent most of the past four years in SE Asia, primarily in Thailand.

I would be happy to tutor students interested in international affairs or who need to improve their English for business, professional or personal goals.

I also offer a variety of general English Conversation Lessons, including Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, East Asian Business Conversation and more!

I was born and educated in Canada but have lived and worked in the UK, US, Greece, Thailand, Malaysia and have traveled extensively in Southeast Asia, Europe and Central America.

I am a native speaker in English and Greek, along with speaking some French, Spanish and Thai.

The mountains of northern Thailand, near Myanmar border and just west of my spiritual home, the lovely old town of Chiang Mai.

While in Southeast Asia, I tutored a wide variety of students and found it to be a great way to build a strong sense of understanding between cultures.

A wonderful Buddhist expression, which always helps me put aside fear or hesitation and take action. 

I have found the best way to teach a student to speak and understand English well is to discover what subjects he or she is most interested in and engage that student's passion.

While tutoring students in Thailand and neighboring countries, I learned a great deal about what works with Asian students and how to make them feel comfortable while keeping the lessons productive and enjoyable.

I can help students not only with speaking and understanding English but also with reading and writing as well.

BACKGROUND

Born, raised and educated in Toronto, Canada.

Have also worked in both the US and UK.

Honors Bachelor's Degree in English Literature with a minor in History. 

Many years experience as a professional writer, editor and proofreader.

Additional skills include business copywriting and proofreading.

I have also worked in television writing and have created a wide variety of online content, for both the web and mobile apps.
