My Story
---
Hi everyone!

My name is Maryan. You can call me "Mars" or "Maru" for short.

I graduated back in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Multimedia Arts. Ever since then I wanted to inspire people through art and design!

True enough, my first job was as an illustrator for an educational website. I've also worked with various clients from America as a digital freelancer!

Because of the nature of my job, I was able to work from anywhere. I only needed my laptop and an internet connection. So I took advantage of that and did a bit of traveling. Sometimes I would stay in a country for as long as my visa allowed me!

So far, I've been to Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, Siem Reap, Taipei, Florida, Chicago, and Boston.

I love traveling and I enjoy meeting new people! But I also like being at home with my family and two pets. When I'm not traveling, I work at home with Belinda the cat and Nacho the dog.

Teaching English

My desire to inspire people still hasn't changed, but I wanted to do more than just create illustrations.

I decided to become an English teacher because I realized that I want to help people in a more significant way. I know for a fact that learning English opens you up to new opportunities. I've experienced that myself.

If becoming fluent in English is your goal, I want to help you.

(It makes sense for me because back in school, English was my favorite subject!)

Learning a new language opens up new doors for an individual. It's a very exciting journey to take. I know this because I'm also currently learning a new language (日本語!).

My Lessons

My main method of teaching English is similar to an eikaiwa.

I can help you improve your English conversational skills by focusing on common phrases and vocabulary being used by native speakers in various situations. These include:

• Talking about yourself
• Making and keeping friends
• Showing interest and sharing your opinion
• Describing things and expressing emotions
• Maintaining work relationships
• Praising subordinates/co-workers
• ...and more!

The lessons will depend on your English level and specific needs. So every lesson is different! In each conversation lesson, I can teach you common phrases, grammar points, and new vocabulary. 

I also have lessons focused on specific aspects of the English language like grammar, speaking, pronunciation, reading comprehension, and writing.

Don't worry, I can create a customized lesson for you if you have specific needs! We will study hard together and I will help motivate you. 

I want you to be able to use what you've learned right away so you can develop your English skills naturally through consistent practice!
