Hello everyone my name is Nuren Saif!
SELF INTRODUCTION
This introduction is a great place for students to find out more about me. I have done several kinds of jobs in my life but, among all of them I have always found teaching to be one of the most rewarding tasks to do. Maybe I've always had a passion for the category I am teaching, maybe I can tell about a special event that made me interested in the subject or teaching in general.
TEACHING BACKGROUND
I have had quite a good number of teaching experience. Starting from teaching students of high school to dealing with children with special needs. I have had the opportunity to be able to work with students of all age and also with students who are a bit out of the oridinary. Which gave me the scope to broaden my horizon and which gave me the chance to expand my potential and really gave me the time to become a hard working tutor. My teaching background has given me the opportunity to have versatile experiences in my life, which not only broadened my vision but has also taught me the value of honesty and humbleness of life.
TEACHING STYLE
When it comes to teaching styles, I tend to believe that the following are very important:
Writing: When it comes to writing, I write lesson plans, leave written comments on students' work, and send home notes to them. I tend to go over every single detail with students while they are writing something and after they are finished with a written assignment. And by going over "everything" I mean that I try to take a look at my student's grammar, tenses, vocabulary usage, sentence structure etc. And I will make sure I teach them these basic foundations of writing at first and then expect them to use these in their assignments.
Speaking: Beyond lecturing students, I also believe speaking with parents of students if possile or just even talk to students in general to be able to develop a friendly atmosphere which would make teaching easy.
Listening:I believe that communicating with students is not a one-way street. The best teacher is one who know how to listen to their students, have open-ended discussions, and encourage questions.
Lastly some FAQs about my lesson structures as my students want to know how I structure my lessons:
1) Can they take any lesson I offer right away? - Yes definitely
2) Or do I recommend an introduction lesson first? Can anyone take my lessons (Adults and children?) or do I only offer lessons for students with a certain level of experience(Beginners? Intermediate? Advanced?)- I definitely recommend an introduction lesson at first for both myself and the student/students to get used to each other and be able to talk about the plan according to which we would move in the future. And to my second question, I offer lessons to anyone and everyone, both adults and children, and beginners, intermediate and advanced. Like I had mentioned in my introduction that I have worked with versatile and different kinds of age groups with different types of needs. Hence I am extremely flexible and open to teaching anyone and everyone.
3) Will my lessons be very customizable or do I have a set plan? Am I open for both alternatives?
I am definetely open for both alternatives. I dont really believe in focusing a rigid set plan as because it does not go with my flexible nature. I also do not belive in focusing one kind of plan as I feel in that way I may at times overlook the need and comfort levels of my students which I wouldnt want to hapen at all. To me a teaching plan should be such in which both the tutor and the student's interest/ needs are considered and which will give both the teacher and the student a sense of having a rewarding and productive experience.
4) What will they gain from taking my lessons? Will it change how they've studied so far? Will it add something new to their life?
I am sure all of my students has had past tutoring experience and may have already familiarised themself with similar content as myself. But what I believe I can offer my students are a rewarding experience through a flexible, non rigid way. WHere learning will not will become a responsibility for them but rather it will become a fun activity for them where they will automtically be willng to learn more about the course and their enthusiasm will keep rising towards the subject with every passing time :)
