1. Warm-Up (5 minutes)

Goal: Engage the student with basic greetings and casual conversation.
Activity: Simple questions and answers.

  • "How are you today?"
  • "Where would you like to travel?"

Practice:

  • Teacher: "Hello, how are you?"
  • Student: "I’m good, thank you! And you?"
  • Teacher: "I’m great! Where would you like to travel?"
  • Student: (Answer based on their interest)

Why it works: Light and conversational, perfect for getting comfortable with speaking.


2. Airport Phrases (10 minutes)

Goal: Learn essential phrases for airport communication.
Activity: Role-play as if you're at the airport.

Key Phrases:

  • "Where is the check-in counter?"
  • "I have a ticket to [destination]."
  • "Can I see your passport, please?"
    • Response: "Here you go."

Practice:
Teacher: "Excuse me, where is the check-in counter?"
Student: "It’s over there. Do you have your passport?"

Interactive Exercise: Teacher pretends to be airport staff, student plays the traveler.


3. Hotel Check-In (10 minutes)

Goal: Learn how to check into a hotel.
Activity: Role-play for checking into a hotel.

Key Phrases:

  • "I have a reservation."
  • "Can I have your passport, please?"
  • "What time is check-out?"

Practice:

  • Teacher: "Welcome to our hotel. Do you have a reservation?"
  • Student: "Yes, I have a reservation under [your name]."

Why it works: Simple and repetitive, ideal for older students learning at their own pace.


4. Ordering at a Restaurant (5 minutes)

Goal: Learn to order food confidently.
Activity: Role-play ordering at a restaurant.

Key Phrases:

  • "Can I see the menu?"
  • "I’d like to order [dish]."
  • "Can I have the bill, please?"

Practice:
Teacher: "Hello, may I take your order?"
Student: "Yes, I’d like to order a sandwich, please."

Interactive Exercise: Practice asking for the bill or requesting a menu.


5. Review & Cool Down (5 minutes)

Goal: Review what was learned and have a relaxed discussion.

  • Review Phrases from each scenario (airport, hotel, restaurant).
  • Ask the student: "Which phrases were easiest for you? Which ones were difficult?"

Closing Activity: Practice saying "Goodbye" and simple farewell phrases like "See you next time!"
