Description
1.
I live in Nachikatsuura, Wakayama ken and have been using this D.R.T.A. approach for a couple of years with a lot of success. D.R.T.A. stands for `Directed Reading and Thinking Activities`. It encourages students to make predictions about a story. The stories and format I use were written by the American teacher Lindsay Young. I have been in contact with her and she approves the use of her work. It has helped my students with vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation.
For this lesson - I will use a story `Love at First Sight`. For preparation I want you to tell me –(speaking) Do you believe in love at first sight? What do you think it means? Is it really love? And Predict - what is this story about? The printed story is then released in instalments with each instalment requiring a prediction.
Regards,Jack.
