Description
Many non-natives have learned how to use the standard accent of Britain, and you can, too!
Let’s study:
Vowel Sounds: Learning the various vowel sounds in British English, including the differences between short vowels, long vowels, and diphthongs.
Consonant Sounds: Practising consonant sounds, including the nuances of voiced and voiceless consonants, and understanding how to pronounce tricky sounds.
Word Stress: Learning how to correctly stress syllables within words, which can change the meaning or grammatical category of a word.
Sentence Stress and Intonation: Understanding how to stress words within sentences, and how to use intonation to convey different meanings and emotions.
Connected Speech: Practising how words flow together in natural speech, including learning about linking, elision, and assimilation.
Common Pronunciation Mistakes: Identifying and correcting common pronunciation mistakes made by learners of British English.
Listening Skills: Enhancing your ability to understand spoken British English through targeted listening exercises.
Practical Application: Applying what you’ve learned through speaking exercises, role plays, and real-life practice.
