Improve your grammar, vocabulary, spoken and written English while learning with a specialist in Gothic literature!
Description
This type of lesson will explore works of classic Gothic literature such as Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus, Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and The Picture of Dorian Gray. We will also look at how the traditional themes are represented in modern works of authors like Neil Gaiman, Stephen King and Thomas Harris.
General structure of each class:
1). Warm up (the style of the warm ups will be personalized for each learner)
1). Going over a chosen passage together (whether reading will be a part of homework or classwork is to be determined with each learner)
2). Reading comprehension exercises: generating questions about the passage, going over challenging vocabulary words and grammatical structures, answering written comprehension questions, etc.
3). Having an open discussion about the work of literature
4). Written expression: writing out answers to related philosophical questions, writing a story based on the excerpts, etc.
Each class is adapted to each learner’s goals and interests!
This class is for you if: you have an intermediate level of English (B1 or higher), you are over 18 years of age, you are a university student specializing in literature or just someone who enjoys works of spine-chilling writing.
Material used: excerpts from novels and short stories, excerpts from films and series (occasionally).
