Let's check your English speaking and reading aloud so that you can sound more natural, with better pronunciation, intonation, and more! 

You may record this lesson for your reference.

The lesson will look like this: 

1. Assessment

I will give you a short text to read out loud. The text is chosen by me and is of a difficulty level that suits you. The text also contains sounds and words that are often mispronounced by non-native English speakers. I may ask you to read the text 2 or three times in total.

Next, you will speak for 2 minutes on a simple topic, guided by pictures.

During your speaking time and time reading aloud, I will make notes and highlight specific points for improvement.

2. Correction

In this phase, I will discuss with you and help you correct an average of 1 mistake or inaccuracy per category (a-f above). I will also read the text for you so that you have an example of how an English speaker would sound reading this text.

3. Practice

In this phase you will read the given passage again, guided by the me to ensure accuracy, whilst implementing the suggested and practised changes. You will repeat after me any difficult words or sounds.

4. Summary and Homework

Here, I will lists the corrected words/sounds/sentences, and supplements this list with additional similar words/sounds/sentences for you to practice in your own time after the lesson is over.

For homework, I will ask you to please practice the selected text with the accompanying list we made in the summary phase in your own time, or as preparation for a follow-up lesson.

What we might work on in this lesson: 

a) Pronunciation of sounds (incl. correct/incorrect positioning of the mouth, tongue, teeth, lips)
b) Intonation and inflection (correct/incorrect rise and fall in pitch of voice)
c) Elision (correct/incorrect omission of sounds or syllables)
d) Accent reduction - identifying your typical mistakes as an individual and as non-native English speaker. 
e) Letter or sound differentiation (correct/incorrect)
f) Filler words/sounds (native language fillers used vs appropriate English fillers)

- Lessons are conducted in English, with Korean used to supplement your learning if you speak Korean.
