Practice speaking and listening by playing games to review English.

Description

Practice helps us learn, so why not make it fun?

Students can choose 2-3 games/ activities they would like to do during the lesson to have fun practicing their English skills. The goal is to use casual, everyday English to have conversations and learn by having fun! These activities are good for high-beginner and intermediate-level students.

I will provide feedback and notes for students after the lesson.

You can choose from:

Learning Directions

  1. Using google maps, we will practice asking for directions and giving directions to certain places. This activity is good for reviewing vocabulary and getting more comfortable speaking and listening.

  2. Using a reference picture, students will listen to me describe a scene and draw it (you don’t have to be good at drawing; it is just for fun!)

Listening

  1. Draw an alien. Students will listen to me describe an alien and draw it. This is good to practice listening and reviewing parts of the body.

Jazz chant - What Did You Do on the Weekend?

  1. Jazz chants help us hear the rhythm and flow of English. We will go over the jazz chant to help you become more comfortable with the rhythm of English and go over any tricky vocabulary. We will end with a short conversation using the prompts in the chant. This is good for pronunciation and building confidence in speaking.

I Spy

  1. We will look at pictures and play a game called I Spy. Students will have to describe the objects they see in the pictures. This is good for practicing adjectives, learning vocabulary, and learning how to describe the things we see.

Syllables and Stress

  1. We will practice learning how many syllables words have and finding where the primary stress in words is. This is good for practicing pronunciation.

Prepositions with Squirrels

  1. Prepositions tell us where objects are in relation to each other (The man is on the bus). We will review some prepositions and then practice using them by playing a game to ask where a squirrel is in relation to a tree. This is good for practice speaking and learning new vocabulary.
