The joke is a humorous short story transmitted in oral form that aims to trigger a reaction of laughter in the listener. It is often accompanied by the narrator's gestures and a caricatured characterization of the protagonists, to give body and strength to the story.
This is because the brevity of the story, told in a few sentences, requires a style similar to the recitative to obtain the involvement of the viewer and, therefore, the maximum effect.
