みなさんこのページを開いてしまったことをすでに後悔していると思いますが、今から10分程度我慢してお付き合いいただき、すべてのビデオを視聴し（そう、複数あるんです）、これ全体を日本語と英語で読み終え、結局また自分の貴重な時間のうちの10分程度を無駄にしてしまったと悟っていただければうれしいです。

今日紹介したい曲は、イギリスのボーイズ・グループ「Rixton」（リクストン）のデビューシングル「Me And My Broken Heart」です。この歌は、悪い恋愛で彼女に心を傷つけられてしまった男性についての曲なんだと思います。で、彼は今、少しだけでいいから（本物の）愛が欲しいと言い、「それがぼくとぼくの壊れた心臓（me and my broken heart）に刺激を与え、始動させてくれることを望んでる」って歌ってます。ぼくが思うには、彼に本当に必要なのは、心臓の専門医に診てもらうことなんじゃないかと。

ビデオは、グループのメンバーたちが女性詐欺師たちにだまされるという内容で、歌詞そのものには沿ってないのですが、女性側が悪者で男性側が被害者っていう意味では関係してるのかと思います。それはいいとして、ビデオの中では、男性側が最終的に女性側を出し抜いてお金をゲットしたみたいなので、これで彼らは高額な心臓手術が受けられると思います。

詐欺といえば、この曲自体が一種の詐欺なんじゃないかとぼくは思います。なぜなら、この曲は、アメリカ人歌手 Rob Thomas の2005年の曲「Lonely No More」に非常に似てるからです。聴いてみてください↓

ということで、みなさんはどう思いますか？ ぼく的には、Rixton がこの Rob Thomas の曲をパクったんだと本当に思いますが、ぼくにとっては驚きではありません。単に他の人や曲のマネと思われるような歌手や曲がつねに存在してるので。個人的には、そういうのは好きじゃないです。オリジナリティーに欠けるので。名前を挙げたくはないんですが、単なるマネなんじゃないかとぼくが思うそういった歌手の１例がこちら↓

もう１つの例は、「ＡＢＣの歌」と「きらきら星」のケース。この２曲のメロディーは恐ろしく似てます。っていうか、ほぼ同一。しかし、どちらも、もう片方の曲を訴えてないということから判断すると、この２曲は完全に異なる、別々に作曲された曲で、似てるのは単にぼくの気のせいなのかと思います。

それはいいとして、先ほど言い忘れた気がするのですが、Rob Thomas はこの Rixton の曲のライターのうちの１人で、この曲はあの Rob Thomas の曲の一部をサンプリングしてます。

I'm sure you're already regretting opening this page, but I hope you can bear with me for the next 10 minutes or so until you finish watching all the videos (yes, plural) and reading the entire piece in English and Japanese, only to realize you have wasted 10 minutes or so of your precious time again.

The song I'd like to talk about today is British boy band Rixton's debut single "Me And My Broken Heart." I guess this song is about a guy who's been in a bad relationship where the girl has broken his heart. And he says that all he wants right now is a little bit of (real) love and sings, "I'm hoping it might kickstart me and my broken heart." I think what he really needs is to go see a cardiologist.

The video, in which the band members get scammed by female con artists, doesn't follow the lyrics literally, but I guess it's related in the sense that the girls are the bad ones and the guys are the victims. Anyway, in the video, it looks like the guys outsmarted the girls in the end and got the money, so I guess they can now afford expensive heart surgery.

Speaking of scams, I think this song itself is a kind of scam because it sounds extremely similar to the 2005 song "Lonely No More" by American singer Rob Thomas. Take a listen:

So, what do you think? I really believe Rixton ripped off that Rob Thomas song, but that doesn't surprise me. There are always some singers or songs that seem to be just copying others. Personally, I don't like that because they lack originality. I don't want to name names, but here's one example of such a singer that I think is just a copycat:

Another example is the case of the ABC song and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. They sound awfully alike, almost identical in fact. But, judging by the fact that neither has sued the other, I guess they're two totally different, independently composed songs and that their similarity is just my imagination.

Anyway, I think I forgot to mention earlier that Rob Thomas is one of the writers of this Rixton song and that it samples parts of that Rob Thomas song.
