About 16 years ago, I was sitting in the auditorium of Pusan National University with hundreds of other students of Korean. The staff were giving out presentations at the front, but I could hardly understand anything they said. Then the person on the mike said something I DID understand. He said my name. I leaned toward the Chinese student next to me (who spoke good English) and I asked why they were calling my name. He said, “Because they’re giving you a scholarship for the next course”.
How embarrassing! I got a scholarship and yet I couldn’t understand Korean well enough to know why they called my name. As an English teacher, I knew how to pass exams, yet I struggled to achieve my goals in learning Korean.
However, my failure as a student has made me a better teacher. I understand how students struggle at times so I can be patient and flexible.
Come have a lesson with me and find out if I really am a very good, patient and flexible teacher.
To make it easy for you, I am giving a 50% discount on all lessons until the 16th November.
I hope to meet you soon.
