"What a Wonderful World"

Weekly Topic: A song that you would play on repeat

Sonntag, 2. Oktober 2022, 21:50

This is the title of the song, I would play on repeat.  "What a Wonderful World" by Loius Armstrong.  The lyrics are  simple yet powerful, the melody is tender and endearing, the song is old yet perpetual.   Generations from now will keep playing it because the song not only evokes a feeling of lightheartedness but of inspiration from its message of love and hope.

Does this picture of happy children passing by bring you some cheers?

The song was composed in 1967 to invite reconciliation and peace from civil unrest happening in the United States.  Twenty years after, the song was used for the movie, Good Morning Vietnam by Robin Williams.  In 2011, David Attenborough read poem like, "What a Wonderful World"  for  BBC's Planet Earth.  Beautiful!

Would it make you laugh to see birds instead of people in front of a shopping mall? (can't be their cars)

Here is the lyrics of the song:

What a Wonderful World

(Words and Music by George David Weiss and Bob Thiele)

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world

The colours of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shakin’ hands, sayin’ “How do you do?”
They’re really saying “I love you”

I hear babies cryin’, I watch them grow
They’ll learn much more than I’ll ever know
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
Yes, I think to myself, what a wonderful world
Oh yeah

If people can be contented with simple joy, for the world is grand as is, mother earth is so giving and beautiful,  truly a wonderful world.  No to hatred, no war, no discrimination.  Love and Live.
