Sep 1, 2022 | 1 Comments

We all have friends who support us through life and make it fun. Let's learn some new phrasal verbs when we talk about friendships.

1. Hit it off
To form a connection with someone when you meet them for the first time (this could also be said about relationships)
Eg: I met Kevin last Christmas and we hit it off immediately.

2. Get along
To have a good bond or understanding
Eg: I get along with friends really well but not with my little cousin.

3. Count on
To rely or trust
Eg: I can always count on Rehan to help me when I am in need.

4. Stand by
To support you, especially during tough times
Eg: I will always be grateful to Sienne for standing by me when I was in crisis.

5. Rub off
when someone's qualitiies pass on to you mostly because you spend time together.
Eg: Patrick's politeness has rubbed off on me ever since we've been friends.
(Also note that this can be used in a negative tone. Someone's bad qualiities might rub off on you as a result of spending time with them.)
Eg: Maria is a lazy person and it looks like it has rubbed off on our son.
