I've become a Mountain Person - Urabandai trip

Weekly Topic: Are you more of a “beach person (海派)” or a “mountain person (山派)“? or a "〇〇person?

Hello Everyone !

When I lived in Canada I was definately a beach person , I loved going to the seaside. Since moving to Japan , I have become more of a mountain person,  most likely  because my area of Canada ( Nova Scotia ) doesn`t have mountains like  Japan does.

This past week, we went to Urabandai area , it was colder, and gave me a rest from my bad Autumn allerigies ( hayfever ) this year.

I absoluetly loved the colder weather and the beautiful surroundings , I had no idea that a volcanic eruption could change the landscape of an area so drastically.  It was a great trip and a learning experience.

Day 1 of our trip : We took the leasure Hibara Lake boat tour ! Then we spend the evening at local onsen hotel which s good for healing skin as my skin has become quite bad due to my allergies. A lot of healing happened while on this trip. This first hotel also offered great food  and nice views of Lake Hibara and Bandai mountain .

Day 2 : Each day that we were in the area the leaves were slowly changing to become more colourful, but unfortntely it was just starting....
On this day we checked out of our hotel and drove around Lake Hibara  and headed to a ski reseort that offered a Ropeway ride up for a nice few from a distance of Bandai mountain and the lake.
We then went for a hike at Goshiki Ponds which were nice colours . See pictures below.

Day 3 : We headed over to Kitakata and tried the local well known Ramen -- I was shocked that people were on a waiting list for raman starting at 9am in the morning !!
After eating the very yummy raman , we headed to Aizu to see a strange temple called Sazaedo , then we headed over to Aizu castle and then down south to Ouchi-juku and then over to Tou-no- Hetsuri -- which had some really nice colours.

I can now add Fukushima to my list of prefectures that I have visited !

Looking forward to my next chance to go on a trip into the mountains.

Cheers,

StephanieRiann
