Hi
I am Jenny and am a very excited to be here. I am an experienced teacher who has taught English for over 25 years here in Australia. I have a Bachelor of Arts and a graduate dimploma in Linguistics and have taught senior secondary English and TESOL. I have also marked Year 12 exams. I have taught other subjects too like history, politics, and work related skills.
I have two grown daughters, one grandson and live with my aging parents so I can look after them better. Between us we have four dogs too!
I have experienced what it is like to learn a new language without any formal training too. At age 16 I went to Mexico as an exchange student, and learned to be quite conversational in Spanish, but I really did not get a solid grasp of the grammar. Since then I practice little but a few years ago I visited Mexico and leanred some spanish again. I became painfully aware that ongoing practice speaking a language really matters. If you are about to head to an English Speaking country to live (even if only for a year) I can help you with practicing the speaking and any anxiety you may be feeling. It is an awesome experience you will carry with you for the rest of your life.
I am also interested in helping people with their creativity. I write a blog. I do scrapbooking, both with paper and digitally. I sometimes paint. I enjoy reading books and writing. I enjoy teaching all sorts of things and love to be outside a formal school classroom to do so.
Need help with practicing public speaking, or being interviewed? I can help there too. I have trained students in public speaking and debating and know how nerve racking speaking to an audience can be.
I am warm and freindly, supportive and encouraging. I like to help my students find their strengths and improve on their weaknesses. I will be helping you to learn what you want to learn. I look forward to helping you.
